Hi I'm Sportycat aka "CAT" to most people. Just a little note to say our David O "DAVO" here in Lake County is holding his own for now and still needs lots of rest yet. Hope for the best all of you out there. I hear thru the grapevine (Jennifer) that there is a benefit being held for Davo at the Roadside (on 44 between Leesburg & Wildwood)on this Sunday Aug 8 from 2:00-5:00. That's all I know about it for now so if interested, please show up there for this benefit held for Davo at one of Dave's favorite places to go. I will be there to see the rest of Dave's friends and I understand Jennifer and Dave's daughters will be there for a little while before they go back up to the hospital. See you all there. I'll try and get by Roadside to see what is up tomorrow and if hear anymore, will post more info or if anyone knows anthing more, feel free to add more info to this post. If no more news, I will show up there to see what's up so come on down.

Hey people,
The fishfry out at the Roadside Package & Lounge will start at noon on Sunday Aug 15th and we will hold another auction hopefully then too to help Jennifer keep the home fires burning while Dave O is down. JR, you comin?? If anyone has anything you'd like to donate, please comment here and I will arrange Friday to pick up whatever you care to donate or bring it with you on Sunday or just show up. David O has donated a lot of his time in years past to help make Leesburg Bikefest what it is today and also a big organizer for our Christmas Toy Run every year. He is one of the first new friends I met when I came into Leesburg 12 years ago and I couldn't ask for a better friend to meet. I have also met so many other people thru him. I don't believe Davo knows what a stranger is, if he meets you, you become a friend. So hope to see some support for him now so see everyone out at the Roadside on Sunday. Address for the Roadside is: 5029 CR 159, Wildwood, Fl 34785--phne #352-748-6834. Sportycat

Still the same, JR. Possible move coming soon. Haven't seen Jenn since Sunday but if not soon, I should see her by Sunday. If you're back by then, come out Sunday. If I hear anything else, I'll let you know. Been busy with some websites trying to help her and Dave out.

A little update. The last I heard DaveO is still in a coma. Tehy are looking at the possibility of moving him to an assisted living facility so people will be able to come visit him with the hopes he will recognize them and start trying to interact.

You're right JR, Dave has been moved to Monroe Medical Center in Ocala. Talked with Jenn on Saturday. Will get more info on today out at the Roadside. Getting ready with some stuff to bring out to auction out there. Dave still has not woke up but has shown small responses. He is still not off the ventillator to breathe on his own but at the Medical Center, their goal is to start weaning him off it a little at a time and also to rehab him when he starts waking up. There is hope for him yet to pull thru this so hope everyone keeps a positive outlook and say prayers for his recovery. Have talked with someone else close to me and they had a nephew in close to the same medical condition after having a stroke. The person was in a coma a little over six weeks before waking up, started recognizing his family. It took some time for him to regain his speech and walking. He had to have some surgeries with his brain but leads a productive life again now. As long as there is life, there is hope. So everyone hang in there and hope for the best for Dave O, please.

I went out to the Roadside again on Sunday and ended up helping Ike with auctioning off a few things to add to funds for Davo. Another $500-600.00 which brings us to around $1,800.00 from both Sundays out there. Thanks to all Dave's friends for stopping by and helping out plus there was some really good fish and fixins the Roadside furnished. I hope to find the place where Dave is at on Friday and get a few more details on his condition. He was still holding his own Sunday according to Jennifer. Still not breathing on his own yet but Monroe is supposed to be working on weaning him off a little at a time and see how it goes. Abate, Military Vets stopped in and showed some support along with Tim from Biers Cove. Until later,

Hi Everyone,
Just an update on Davo for you. I went to Monroe last Sunday to see David. If you want to go see him, ask for him by name at the front desk and they will tell you where he is currently in the hospital. I did in fact find him and myself and David S went up to visit for a little bit. He had some problems with his kidneys and they haad just cleared them up and he would be ready to go back to his room in another day or two. David looked pretty good especially considering he has been in the coma for a month now. He still is sleeping but holding his own. I talked with the nurse and he hasn't shown much change yet as far as responding. He is still on the ventilator to breathe but the key word, his body is still trying to hold it's own. Pray for him seriously as he needs that from his friends right now. Go to see him and let him hear your voices but please stay on the positive side as he can probably hear you even though he is in a coma. Wish him the best and let him know you are pulling for him. Don't give up on him you guys and hope for the best. Where there is still life, there is hope. He needs his friends right now along with Jennifer needing them too. I am sure she stays exhausted along with his daughters trying to hold vigil over David and getting back into working for a living but they are not giving up on him and I won't either as one of his friends. He was a friend to me when I had none in a strange area. I think it's the least I can do for him and his. Thanks,
Cat

I spoke to Ron Hendry yesterday. He said they took Dave O off the respirator around 9am Sat. morning and he was breathing on his own. They will put him back on the respirator periodically. RidgeRunner and Becky went to see him Saturday and he showed eye movement.

Thank God. Hopefully our prayers are being answered. I haven't made it back over but hope to in the next two days. Appreciate the info, JR. I have been gone last several days riding the river and the sky. Jumped out of an airplane yesterday even though the plane was in perfectly good shape.
As far as Dave goes, he looked good when I was up there so I have been hoping he is listening to all of us when we go up and tries hard to come back even though it will be a lot of work for him. I know he would not want to live on machines so it is so good to hear he is trying to breathe on his own. Dave was strong before he got hit with this so I had high hopes maybe he could pull through it and with thereapy, at least get back a life he can handle. It will be different but with work, it can be good.
I will keep right on praying for him. BET YOUR BOOTS ON THAT!
Oh yea, as far as the rest of the assholes I keep running into that give up so easy, be careful, you could very well be in the same situation as Dave, then how will you feel when you have to listen to idiots knowing you can't speak and tell them not to give up on you yet, that you're not ready to go just yet. And by God, you know who you are. I have known people that come back and I am not ready to give up on Dave just yet but it is not my decision. It is his Family's decision. His daughters. They are the ones with the ultimate decision and I pray for them too as I do know how hard to face what they are going thru right now. Been there, done that. Have faith, stop talking about it and just have it.
Later,

Just an update for you. Went Sunday with David S to go up and see David O.I was quite shocked and happy that he had his eyes wide open. Seen his eyes for the first time since he has been down. He wouldn't look at me or David but did seem to look at a couple of things in the room. I'm just happy that he has woken up. Will go back up again within another week to see whatis going on. He is in room 5103 still at Monroe although he is in the Kindred part of the Hospital. I did see a tear at one eye so I still say he is in there looking out and trying to figure out what poleaxed him. Has to be massive confusion on his part, I'm sure. Anyway, thought I owuld share the news of what I at least saw. Haven't heard anything from Jenn or his daughters in a while so I just go to see myself. So all I can say, keep up the prayers and keep the faith, please.

Hey Everyone,
By now, sure everyone has heard David O has passed away and I just wanted to get the word out that there will be a memorial at Yalaha on the Farm on Feb 13th. We are meeting at 1:00 at the Roadside where there will be food, drinks. We will ride out from there by 2:00 to ride out to Yalaha for a memorial for Davo and planting a pecan tree for him out there. If you want to come and be a part, join us at Roadside 1:00. C Ya,
