Kurt Mayer, 23, of 118 Niemira Ave. -- who had head and body injuries -- was not wearing a helmet, Indialantic police Sgt. Scott Elliott said.

Mayer was riding his 2001 Honda motorcycle south along SR A1A, just south of Grosse Pointe Avenue, when he was hit by a 2006 Scion that was pulling out of the Indialantic Shopping Center, police said.

He was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Elliott said.

The driver of the car, Yolonda Bemont, 63, of 1350 Atlantic Ave., Melbourne Beach, was not injured, Elliott said. There were no other people in her car.

Indialantic Police request that anyone who witnessed the accident -- which occurred at 9:23 a.m. -- call Detective Cpl. Mike Connor at 723-7788.

Their investigation is continuing, and no charges had been filed as of Thursday night.
