Do you belong to any organizations for riders? Currently, the only "biker" organization I belong to is HOG and I don't even participate with them at all but it does get me cool discounts at the Harley dealer.

I am not a slacker, I just excel in apathy.

Now, knowing the history behind all the scams, errrr, schemes, ok, ok, plans that Buford and I have made, you should know we are totally organized.

VP, that stands for Very Patient right? As in waiting for all the girls to finish the makeup before the run starts!!!!!!!

Just joking, seriously. Dam, now I gotta keep a lookout for "LADY" riders trying to drop me in a ditch.

Why did we do it, because we can do it better.

I kinda stated my intentions at a meeting of the Spirit Riders in Flint, Michigan, this past Thursday.
They're a sober M/C...
I have to hang out for 3 months , then prospect for 6 months....
I refuse to do the chicken dance in public though...
Until I get my prospect patch...I can bow out gracefully. Once I get my patch, it takes a bit more to quit...
They came to me and asked me to join them. I have known most of these guys for years, and they are a well respected group.
It's a bit early to claim that I belong to the club...but I think it will happen.
I have declined opportunities to join several clubs over the years, over issues like prospecting, to initiations, and property rights (what's mine stays mine, and that didn't float with some of the 1%ers)
There won't be any of those issues with this club....but I still ain't doing no chicken dance in public...hell, I ain't gonna do it in the privacy of my own home either!Happy Dance

Clubs are a great thing, sometimes. I hate the clubs that expect you to back them or their members even when they are wrong. Sometimes the best thing is to let a member of brother get his ass kicked just so that he learns to keep his or her mouth shut. I would never let a brother or sister get seriously hurt, but a little thumping from time to time can do wonders for keeping loud mouth, obnoxious people in line. That is why I have always been a loner. I ride with who I want to ride with, and I ride where I wish to ride. I have ridden with some patch holders, and I respect their rule when I ride with them. But the friends I have who are patch holders respect my decisions to not want to be a part of their organization. I have received the invitations over the years also, but like Hoppy, I decided that they were not for me for whatever reason. Where I take issue with certain patch holders is when they cause me trouble because I cross some imaginary line in the sand that they did not predefine. I would never walk through the middle of a group of patch holders without asking permission. But then again, I was taught better.

Why did we do it, because we can do it better.

This is a sobriety riding club...They're highly respected in the recovery circles (AA, NA, CA) everyone is a recovered alcoholic or addict or (in my case) both...
They are known around the area for the charity work they do, and the outreach to the alcoholics and addicts looking for direction in recovery...
Most are from the 1% crowd...some are just motorcycle enthusiasts...One is a Catholic Priest...(yeah they even allow Catholics to be alcoholics)
I am honored that they think highly enough of me to invite me to join them.
They take the recovery business very seriously, and I do too.
I am very active in the motorcycle ministry circles and my personal outreach is to addict/alcoholic bikers.
I would never refuse to help anyone that is honestly seeking to break the chains of addiction.
Hell , The Spirit Riders are even respected in Daytona, where the last thing most people are looking for is sobriety, during Bike week.

But I refuse to do the chicken dance as part of the prospecting routine....Pondering

Gotta respect anybody that puts a helping hand out for a brother without expecting a dollar in it when they pull it back. I do think that you should do the chicken dance though Hoppy. And I also do believe that we should have the exclusive to the posting rights.
